RV water system problems
Pumps that cycle, pumps that will not run, and pressure that is not what it should be.
- RV water pump keeps running or cycles with taps closed
This is a genuinely useful symptom rather than a vague complaint. If the pump builds pressure, stops, and then clicks back on with everything closed, water is leaving the system. Either there is a leak, or a check valve is letting pressure bleed backwards. Both are definite findings and both narrow quickly.
Drivable, with precautions - RV water pump not working at all
Whether the pump makes any sound at all is the whole first half of this diagnosis. Complete silence means it is not receiving power or has failed electrically. A pump that runs but delivers nothing has power and is failing to move water — usually because it is not getting any, which is a supply problem rather than a pump problem.
Safe to drive - RV low water pressure
The key question is whether pressure is low on city water, on the pump, or on both. Low on both points at a restriction inside the coach that affects everything downstream. Low on only one points at that source — a heavily restrictive regulator on city water, or a tiring pump.
